Another day of Chemo has come again. We are getting in quit a routine with this now. Cody is still felling quit good other than his feelings in his hands and feet have not been coming back like they told him it would. It has actually got a little worse. He is now dropping things and is having a harder time felling things. His patience with this is shrinking quit fast. Which I really don't blame him. I'm starting to think we may have pushed the oxaliplatin a little too far.
He's starting to have a little more energy during his treatments again. Which I'm not sure is a good things for the nurses. poor Jamie and Kelly are getting tormented again.
One thing we have enjoyed is the fries from the snack bar. They become contagious in that treatment room. When one person gets them the smell is just too much to pass. The next thing you know more start showing up.

So today is the day we get to take Cody down to get unplugged from his chemo. While we are there we were told again that his numbers from his blood are looking very good. One thing that had upset Cody was that he had gained 5 pounds in the past 3 days. This was dis concerning considering he usually drops since he doesn't eat much during those days. And he was quit red in the face. The nurse asked him if he had been feeling OK. He mentions to her that he had some allergy like symptoms, but that happens every time and the Dr. hasn't been very concerned about it. He also mentioned that his chest had felt a little tight and it had hurt to breath the night before. Cody of course tries to blow it off like its no big deal. Kelly the nurse insisted on informing the P.A since Dr. Rich was off for the day. When she came back she informs us that we are heading straight for a CT and an Angie because the one drug can affect the heart and lungs. We of course have our kids with us since it usually only takes them about 5 minutes to unhook him and they like feeling apart of this journey.
So here we are checking in for Cody to take his tests.
Tenlie was having a really hard time with this. She is our worrier one. We tried to explain to her that daddy just had to go through the donut like tube that she had done 3 years ago. She remembers that like it was yesterday. We didn't realize how much that had traumatized her until today. I believe that made her even more worried about her daddy. She didn't want to leave his side. She just cried and cried when she couldn't go in there with him. So later that night we received the call that told him his CT was inconclusive cause it looked like he may have taken a slight breath during it. It looked like he may have a blood clot in his lung so they needed him to go in to AF hospital the next morning for some blood work to be done.
Cody's pretty good at needles now it seams to be nothing to him. It didn't take long before we received the next call telling him that his levels are elevated so they needed him to come down to Utah Valley for an Ultra Sound on his legs cause with his levels elevated like they are he most likely does have a clot.
Back to the out patient area a waiting his ultrasound.
So after all this running around and now its later in the after noon right before a holiday weekend we get the last phone call with the results of the ultrasound. It came back clean, but they need him to take it very easy this weekend cause he still has a good chance that he may have a small blood clot in his lungs. He was told to do nothing straining and to basically lay around watching movies or TV. If he has any problems breathing or sharp pains or spikes a fever we need to get him to the ER immediately. WOW how this is comforting. Last I heard blood clots in the lungs are quit scary and mind you not who are you telling some one who doesn't listen t orders anyways. I have teased him that he just wanted to get out of packing some how.
If you guys need help pack or lifting and moving things we can help. Curtis has next weekend off and the last weekend in January. Seriously, we would love to help. Let us know.
ReplyDeleteWow, all of this and your trying to pack up and move?!?! That is crazy Tori! You are seriously amazing! So...what can I do to help? Your kids don't know me...but I promise I would be nice and they would have fun. ; ) Let them come over and play while you get some things done and your hubby rests. Or...I could even bring you some lunch or something...
ReplyDeleteLet me know! I'm thinking about you!
Oh and on a totally random note...
I've been thinking about going lighter (my hair) in the spring or summer...how hard is that to do? Will I end up with orange hair? Is it really damaging? I can't make up my mind. But if I do go lighter, would you be willing to give it a try?
I'm so glad that the ultrasound didn't show a clot. Seriously Cody has done so amazing with his crazy, can't sit still personality!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo I had so much fun being able to visit with you and all of the girls last time I came out! It was so fun to play salon again with everyone!
