Sledding

Saturday January 1

So today we headed up American Fork Canyon with Cody's family to go sledding.  It was quit cold, but the kids had a great time.

Cody's dad and brother-in-law Nick brought up their snowmobiles and was pulling the kids on the sled's behind them.  Stetson thought that was pretty cool and was very excited to ride with Nick.  We couldn't get him off it once he was on.  He also enjoyed the sledding.  One time he accidental hit a little jump and got some air. I was at the top of the hill and all I could hear was "YE HAW COWBOY".  What a character he is.  He wouldn't let me ride down ever he insisted riding all by himself.

Tenlie also enjoyed the day she sledded her day away and then enjoyed ridding behind the snowmobile with her cousins.

Cody was a good sport.  Considering his problems earlier in the week it wasn't worth causing more issues.  He became the picture taker and watch the little ones who wanted to come back to the cars to get warm.  I know he was etching to ride those snowmobiles, but decided he better play it safe.  Bouncing around with a possibility of a blood clot in the lungs not such a good idea.

I just had to take this picture.  I just love snow covered trees.  The drive up the canyon was beautiful.

What a way to start the New Year off.

New Years

Friday December 31

So our new years was kind of a quiet one.  We really didn't have much time for planning much since we were involved at the hospital trying to figure what was going on with Cody.  The kids had fun with just us at their party though.  After watching a few movies and playing games they had no clue it wasn't midnight when they did their celebration at 10.

I think Tenlie looked forward to this night more than any of us.  As soon as we told her it was close to the ball dropping she was fast to getting out the hats, necklaces and blow horns.

I had a great time just spending it with our little family.  Cody wasn't feeling up to to much so it was good we were at home with the 4 of us.

Happy New Year!!

Round 2 of Chapter 3

Monday December 27

Another day of Chemo has come again.  We are getting in quit a routine with this now.  Cody is still felling quit good other than his feelings in his hands and feet have not been coming back like they told him it would.  It has actually got a little worse.  He is now dropping things and is having a harder time felling things.  His patience with this is shrinking quit fast.  Which I really don't blame him.  I'm starting to think we may have pushed the oxaliplatin a little too far.

He's starting to have a little more energy during his treatments again.  Which I'm not sure is a good things for the nurses.  poor Jamie and Kelly are getting tormented again.

One thing we have enjoyed is the fries from the snack bar.  They become contagious in that treatment room.  When one person gets them the smell is just too much to pass.  The next thing you know more start showing up.

Wednesday December 29

So today is the day we get to take Cody down to get unplugged from his chemo.  While we are there we were told again that his numbers from his blood are looking very good.  One thing that had upset Cody was that he had gained 5 pounds in the past 3 days.  This was dis concerning considering he usually drops since he doesn't eat much during those days.  And he was quit red in the face.  The nurse asked him if he had been feeling OK.  He mentions to her that he had some allergy like symptoms, but that happens every time and the Dr. hasn't been very concerned about it.  He also mentioned that his chest had felt a little tight and it had hurt to breath the night before.  Cody of course tries to blow it off like its no big deal.  Kelly the nurse insisted on informing the P.A since Dr. Rich was off for the day.  When she came back she informs us that we are heading straight for a CT and an Angie because the one drug can affect the heart and lungs.  We of course have our kids with us since it usually only takes them about 5 minutes to unhook him and they like feeling apart of this journey.

So here we are checking in for Cody to take his tests.

Tenlie was having a really hard time with this.  She is our worrier one.  We tried to explain to her that daddy just had to go through the donut like tube that she had done 3 years ago.  She remembers that like it was yesterday.  We didn't realize how much that had traumatized her until today.  I believe that made her even more worried about her daddy.  She didn't want to leave his side.  She just cried and cried when she couldn't go in there with him.  So later that night we received the call that told him his CT was inconclusive cause it looked like he may have taken a slight breath during it.  It looked like he may have a blood clot in his lung so they needed him to go in to AF hospital the next morning for some blood work to be done.

Cody's pretty good at needles now it seams to be nothing to him.  It didn't take long before we received the next call telling him that his levels are elevated so they needed him to come down to Utah Valley for an Ultra Sound on his legs cause with his levels elevated like they are he most likely does have a clot.

Back to the out patient area a waiting his ultrasound.

So after all this running around and now its later in the after noon right before a holiday weekend we get the last phone call with the results of the ultrasound.  It came back clean, but they need him to take it very easy this weekend cause he still has a good chance that he may have a small blood clot in his lungs.  He was told to do nothing straining and to basically lay around watching movies or TV.  If he has any problems breathing or sharp pains or spikes a fever we need to get him to the ER immediately.  WOW how this is comforting.  Last I heard blood clots in the lungs are quit scary and mind you not who are you telling some one who doesn't listen t orders anyways.  I have teased him that he just wanted to get out of packing some how.

Christmas

Saturday December 25

Christmas Morning!!

Well Santa Definitely found us this year. It was quit nice not having to be up early to get our Christmas over with so we could get up to my in-laws. They pushed their breakfast back to 11. So we let the kids sleep in until 8:30 let me tell you that was a great Christmas present to me.

(This is Tenlies stash.)

(Here is Stetsons Stash)

Stetson was so excited he wasn't waiting for no one.

I think Stetson was playing before Tenlie even made it around the corner.

Tenlie was so excited for her Laptop. That is all she was asking for. That was the first thing she eyed too.

Dad scored on his gifts to the kids they both loved their gifts. Stetson was quit fun while he was opening his gifts he was singing Christmas songs the whole time.

We took the kids out one night to pick a gift for each other and when they opened each others gifts this is how they thanked one another. I just love this stage of life I wish I could freeze them.

they both got laptops from Santa and this is what they did all morning.

Later we went up to Cody's parents for breakfast and open presents.

Cody's mom made all the grand kids and each married couple an I Spy blanket that has minkie on the back. WOW how many hours this had to have taken her. My kids have yet to put their blankets away. They love them.

After we left their house we stopped by both great grandparents and then headed to my parents house for dinner. I must have been pictured out by then or just tired I forgot to take pictures.

We had an amazing Christmas. We loved being as a family and reflecting back at the true meaning of Christmas the birth of our Savior.
