Thanksgiving

Thursday November 25

So this year we had quit the week of Thanksgiving.  We thought Cody was going to have chemo the day before Thanksgiving so his family decided to have their dinner the Sunday before so Cody would be able to enjoy his dinner.  Last year he was very sick the on Thanksgiving also so he didn't have any dinner so we felt bad for him.  I wasn't thinking very well had didn't have my camera on me so I didn't have any pictures of our dinner there.

Cody was able t push his chemo off until the following Monday so he was able to enjoy 2 dinners this year.

I started Thanksgiving off with a nice/cold 5k run in our old neighborhood.  I convinced 2 of my friends to come out and run it with me.  I think we are completely nuts since it was I believe 10 degrees outside.

Latter that day we headed over o my family's dinner at my parents house.  We didn't have everyone there, but it was still a house full.

Stetson was definitely the life of his table.  I think he kept everyone very entertained.

Poor Tenlie was really sick that day so she just slept through dinner.

Dad over ate and joined her right after.  If he eats too much at one sitting he pays the price.  It makes him very sick.  he's suppose to eat little bits just more often.  That's kind of a hard thing to do on Thanksgiving everything just tastes so good.

Family Pictures Fall 2010

So now that Cody has gained his weight back and is looking healthy we decided we needed to try family pictures one more time. My children that is all 3 are a real treat to try and make cooperate, but we did manage to get quit a few good ones. I'm warning you now there are a lot I just couldn't choose.

OK so I wasn't going to toot my own horn, but got in trouble for not. I do have to say I was very proud at how it turned out and yes I did make Tenlies dress.

Round Eleven

Wednesday Nov. 10

Round eleven wow! This chapter of our treatments has gone by really fast. It's hard to believe that one more and we come to the end of chapter 2. What will chapter 3 bring is the big question.

I just thought this was kind of funny. They leave this syringe hooked up after taking his blood.

So some may know that we were looking at doing surgery after round 12, but after talking to the Dr. today we have decided differently. Cody's Dr. has taken Cody's case in front of the tumor board and we didn't get even one yes for surgery. After hearing that we were a little discouraged, but listening to their reason made a whole lot of sense. Cody's tumor in his colon is not the main tumor that is affecting his life. Even though it was the main feeding one its not his biggest problem. The tumor in the colon has shrunk down to the point of not even being detected in a CT scan. So if we went forth with surgery and removed this tumor he would have to be taken off chemo for a minimum of 6 weeks. In that time we are chancing that the tumors in the Liver could start growing in a rapid rate.

These last two weeks between chemo has been rather stressful ones for Cody and I. Cody has been facing more of the side affects to the chemo than before. We knew this time would come and that we have been truly blessed these past 5 months. So we have truly had to make some decisions regarding what our next chapter was going to hold for us. So after hearing that it is truly his liver that is threatening his life we felt very strongly to leave the colon alone for now. We need Cody to be as strong and healthy in the months to come to be able to fight.

HALLOWEEN

First lets take a look back over the years.

So Halloween has become one of our family's favorite holidays. A few years ago I had planned on the kids being Mickey and Minnie for Halloween. When one of my sweat clients mentioned she had the Donald and Daisy costumes for adults I instantly jumped on it. I wasn't sure if Cody would go for it I thought maybe he would only wear the hat, But a little batting of his little girls eyes and asking him to wear it is all it took. Ever since we have gone in theme. I don't know how long it will last, but we will enjoy it while we can.

Here we are Mickey and Friends

The next year we went as the Peter Pan Story

And this year yes we were the 101 Dalmatians.

I have to say I have pretty cute puppies. I think this was my kids favorite year.

So since we didn't have the best of weather and Cody wasn't feeling so great we headed down to our church for our ward trunk or treat. Here are the kids playing some games there.

Even though the weather was rainy it didn't stop us from having some fun. I do miss the door to door, but there is always a next year.

Thriller 5k

Saturday October 31

Today we had a 5k fun run organized by some wonderful ladies to help raise money for Codys Cancer treatments.   We are so grateful to Rachele Beck, Shauna Hunt, Heather Walker, Amber Peck, my Sister-in-law Corie Cluff and all the many others who may have worked behind the scenes.  If it wasn't for these ladies organizing it it wouldn't have been a great success.  All the hard work was very much appreciated.  Cody was having a very hard time at this point.  The cold weather was really affecting his health.  We were so blown away by all the support of so many loved ones who came out on a holiday and in the very cold temperature.

Beings it was Halloween we thought it would be fun to invite people to wear a costume.  Here is a few of the ones that showed up.

We had a great starting line here are just a few for the 5k and some from the childrens 1/2 milerace.

Oh how it is great to see the finish line.

There was so many great donations for prizes from many businesses and friends and family who contributed to the raffle at the end of the race.

Here are some of the winners with their prizes.

We just want to give a big thank you to all these wonderful people who came out to show their love and support.  Even the many of you who may have not even known us before.  Thank you it has meant to world.  Cody and I went home that day with our hearts full.

Halloween Week

So Halloween week gets kind of crazy around our house we like lots of activities. I for went our kids Halloween party that we put on every year with the neighbors and some friends. I was quit sad and had a hard time filling the spirit at the beginning of the week, but with Cody having treatment that same week I just couldn't do another thing.

So it took me until Thursday to really get into the spirit of the holiday. I have so much fun getting dressed up and dressing up my kiddies. So Stetsons school had their party on Thursday and he went as a biker dude. He was so excited and thought he was so cool. He just loves anything motorcycle.

He wanted to make sure I got a picture of his jacket with the Harley decal.

Then Friday was Tenlies school party and she went as Aerial. I have to say she was a cute blond Aerial.

Since Tenlies school has early out day on Fridays and we had been slacking on our pumpkin decorating. We decided since we had a little time between school and taking Cody back to the hospital to get unhooked from chemo we would hurry and get them done.

As you can see we were a little lazy this year and took the easy way out. In years past we would do the whole carving thing and our kids would get sick of it just after we would gut the things out. Then Cody and I would be stuck finishing the pumpkins. So this year I came across these kits and decided this way the kids could be involved the whole time.

Later that night we got dressed up and headed off to Tenlies school Carnival. This time Tenlie decided to be a cat.

Tenlie Loved the donut eating game. She was extremely determined not to touch it.

Stetson on the other hand was grab and shove. One bite is all it needed.

So far its been a crazy week, but a fun one.
